grounding mamma established 2025.
It all began in savasana. one of my fav yoga classes ever. as i laid down it came to me “mamma, mamma, mamma”
slowly i started building out the idea of mamma.
mama was my great grandmother, a pioneer who advocated for her 8 children and made sure that the 5 women had every opportunity to succeed. she was a feminist at a time before feminists were really a thing and she is a hero in our family in more ways than one.
the 5 girls went on to become doctors, nurses, teachers, radiographers. all thanks to mamma and her encouragement.
grounding mamma pays homage to mama. my families legacy. but also to the women and feminine energy that surrounds us and of course mother nature.
we are all mammas in some way. to someone we love, people we work with, strangers, neighbours or even to ourselves.
grounding mamma welcomes all and hopes to provide the love you may be missing or give you an opportunity to share your love with the world.
—
grounding: to connect
mamma: to hold
—
everything is intentional at grounding mamma.
from the women i collaborate with.
to the sensory experience that you get at every event or yoga class.
this is not a typical yoga class.
this is for you.
to connect with ancestors. to connect with community. to connect with mother nature.
to connect with you.
Essential Oils
We use essential oils to heighten the sensory experience. This is always optional. Please advise us if you have any allergies or worries regarding this.
Incense
My late grandfather loved incense. As someone with Indian heritage I too have always loved incense. Expect at least one incense burnt every class or event!
Flowers
Flowers should be for everyone, every day. I love to gift flowers whenever I can because they symbolise Mama in every way! Beautiful, unique, wild and free.
Music
We mix it up. Sometimes traditional and sometimes modern. Sometimes completely out of the box. Music helps transports the experience.
Open to all*
Our events are open to all*. Especially women, people of colour, the queer community and allies. If you do not support any of these groups however you are not welcome. This is a safe space for all people.
Connection
Tea after or during or before class. Time to connect with new faces. These workshops and events are more than showing up to workout. They are about finding your tribe.
